Like most children, I loved to draw, and as a lot of us, I got distracted by life. At the encouragement of a good friend, I enrolled in a painting class at the age of 50. I am referred to as a self-taught artist, no formal education, although I have participated in workshops and taken classes with some of the most incredible artists today. My preferred medium is oil. Initially I was drawn to portraiture (I love watching a face appear on canvas) but have broadened my horizons to include landscape, still life and abstract. No matter what you are painting, it is all about the light, dark, and all the values in between. My personal style is always evolving, I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t, but I do love impressionism.
It has been my pleasure to meet people that love art and are appreciative of what artists do. There is so much to love about the entire painting process: learning to see, sketching, holding the brush, mixing the colors, the first kiss of paint to the canvas and of course, the exhilaration of creating something from the void, something that wasn’t there before.
Thanks for looking
